Remember me saying waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when how bad I was at this. Apparently I've gotten worse. [sigh] But I am here, at least for now, so "Hi, everyone. Sorry for being such a poor blogger." Seems when I meet people I never shut up. Too bad I can't incorporate that into my blog.
At ANG Seminar in Anaheim in August I had several people ask LK Reinmillerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17935414291575906424noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344443960168262911.post-8966404033513745882012-04-06T11:30:00.001-07:002012-04-06T11:32:00.052-07:00Using my iPad for stitchingCan't believe it's been five months since I posted. Or maybe I can. Playing catch up is for the birds. Some days I wonder if I will ever catch up from being sick this summer. [sigh]
I have fun news. My dear sweetie got me an iPad for Christmas. A total surprise. We weren't supposed to get each other anything this year, but he cheated and got me some Barnes and Noble gift cards. And I cheated, LK Reinmillerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17935414291575906424noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344443960168262911.post-3473709873748412602011-11-01T09:53:00.001-07:002011-11-01T09:53:52.253-07:00Exhibit OpportunityJust a quick post. As part of ANG's 40th Anniversary Celebration in Philadelphia next year, they will be mounting an exhibit at the Philadelphia Art Alliance. http://philartalliance.org/ The exhibit will be about contemporary needlepoint samplers and will hang the entire month of August. And they asked me to exhibit Walk on the Wild Side.
To say I'm thrilled beyond belief is a big understatementLK Reinmillerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17935414291575906424noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344443960168262911.post-53581800110847993212011-10-30T15:05:00.000-07:002011-10-30T15:05:07.532-07:00Finally, I have a few minutes to post the results of the contest for which project I will do next. I am happy to report that the project I wanted to do won. The third photo had 6 votes, the second photo had 5, and the first photo had 2 votes. Although one person couldn't decide and voted for two - but I did count both votes. So the next project I will do for myself is this one. I'm very excited, LK Reinmillerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17935414291575906424noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344443960168262911.post-70663404465937804862011-10-25T12:35:00.000-07:002011-10-25T12:38:22.916-07:00Thread InventoryIf you follow the EGA or ANG discussion groups you know there has been a LOT of talk about stitching apps. And a big discussion has been apps for keeping track of stash. Well, since you've seen my new workroom you know I don't have stash, I have inventory!!! I keep track of it on spreadsheets which I can download to my phone using an app called Docs to Go.

I've been creating a new web site using Weebly, which gives me templates, etc. yet lets me customize it quite a bit. The cool part is there are ways to change even the templates so I've been dabbling in some HTML and CSS (geek speak). The cool thing is it has given me the confidence to try some tweaking here with my blog.
Look at my last post, about my workroom and you will see LK Reinmillerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17935414291575906424noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344443960168262911.post-54219779241016365882011-09-30T08:00:00.000-07:002011-10-07T16:20:21.672-07:00My workroom part twoI promised the rest of my workroom (although I've probably shared more than anyone ever wanted to know). The last thing I showed was my closet and canvas storage.

I don't know if it is because Blogger has a new interface (which I am NOT using - it's hard enough to remember how to use the old one) and there are issues or what.

My excitement about my workroom pushed me over the top and I posted WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too long a post. Sorry *^0^*
I think I'll break the next one into two posts so it isn't so completely overwhelming. Not everyone is as excited as I am that I have my very own room.

I've had a hard summer. A few days after I got back from our Mystery Retreat I got really sick — well, afflicted would be more accurate. At first we thought it was an allergy and I gave up every food we could think of that it might have been. Didn't help. After numerous trips to the Drs and trying everything everyone could think of and a biopsy the Drs determined LK Reinmillerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17935414291575906424noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344443960168262911.post-67886905077750113692011-08-03T14:07:00.000-07:002011-08-03T14:07:34.590-07:002011 Needle Arts Mystery Retreat projectWell, I promised I'd do it. Here's my model of the Needle Arts Mystery Retreat 2011 project. My colors were vintage merlot Congress cloth with Chili Peppers overdyed thread from Threadworx and tans, reds, and greens with gold.
See if you can guess which section is mine!!!!
And, if you haven't discovered it already, next year's retreat is going to be right here in Portland! But I have been plugging away at it, sometimes only a few minutes in the evening. This is my sitting-in-bed stitching project, which is weird because I have NEVER stitched in bed until I started stitching my daffodil. Now I seem to be addicted – or at least it's becoming a habit. I also take it with me to guild LK Reinmillerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17935414291575906424noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344443960168262911.post-42482469310744014652011-07-14T13:36:00.000-07:002011-07-14T13:36:19.618-07:00My newest madnessI finally finished the piece the mountains went on (remember waaaaaaaaaaaay back when I showed my mountains?). This is my newest 4-day andvanced class and, some would say, my newest insanity. When I showed it at our EGA chapter meeting Monday I got some comments along the lines of, "Do you stay awake nights thinking this stuff up?" and "Where do you come up with this stuff?" Oh, and my favorite, LK Reinmillerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17935414291575906424noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344443960168262911.post-87154585204725490272011-06-06T14:47:00.000-07:002011-06-06T14:47:01.668-07:00Designing ExperimentsI've finished 6 pages of my vortex.
I took it to the GPR meeting this last weekend and was told by several people that I was crazy. I don't feel crazy. Only 32 more to go *^_^*

Meanwhile, here's a photo of a one day class model I just finished. It's on painted Congress cloth (24-count) in (ta da) red, white, and blue. It will also be offered on green canvas with green. white, and brick red and brown canvas with coral, cream, and LK Reinmillerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17935414291575906424noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344443960168262911.post-73774987960642644882011-05-11T09:00:00.000-07:002011-05-11T09:00:06.352-07:00Design ExperimentsI've finished page 2 of my newest experiment. It is finally starting to show the swirl. Interestingly, I've done more ripping on this one than on the daffodil. Even though the colors seem to be random and in bits and spots, getting even a bit out of place changes the look of the piece and affects the design. And ripping out on 24-count over one is a pain in the bum!!!!

I am stitching on 24-count white Congress cloth over one with DMC floss. I checked out some other threads, thinking of adding some shine and hoping to find some threads that didn't get fuzzy so easily, but they were all too thin so I'm sticking with DMC.
This one is going to take a lot longer than the LK Reinmillerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17935414291575906424noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344443960168262911.post-57404154910771415942011-04-27T11:53:00.000-07:002011-04-27T11:53:17.532-07:00Designing ExperimentsAmazingly, it didn't take me as long to stitch the daffodil as I originally thought. In fact - I am finished!!!!!!
Once I got started it was actually very soothing. I didn't have to make any color choices or anything. I just stitched. I think I'm going to frame it in a shadow box to increase the feeling of dimension.
I stitched it over one on black 24-count Congress cloth with DMC floss. I actually started stitching my daffodil. It will probably take me forever as I'm the world's slowest cross stitcher, even using two hands, but I've wanted to do it forever. So I am!! I'm stitching it on black Congress cloth over one with a single strand of DMC floss.
Here's my progress so far.
This is the upper left corner. I can see this in so many ways. I love the idea of using the shapes to overlay transparencies and textures. This particular drawing is more likely to become an actual piece than the two illustrated in the last posting. It just has so many possibilities and I am LK Reinmillerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17935414291575906424noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5344443960168262911.post-37664627245973427782011-02-26T11:00:00.000-08:002011-02-26T11:00:03.685-08:00Designing ExperimentsAfter I had painted a facsimile of the collage I did in class I started tweaking the shape and thinking about how I could use the shapes in a project. I was getting proposals ready for a seminar whose theme is "A Touch of Glass" and the idea of using the design in some sort of project resulted in this general idea (from my sketchbook).
I liked the idea but it hasn't gone anywhere yet. I don't often get to go to seminar and take classes so it was a great opportunity. Plus I've always wanted to take a class from Shirley Kay.
